Why Do We Always Want New Clothes?

There are tons and tons of clothes out there for any budget. But what to do if you can’t seem to get enough? You like lots of clothes and you just wish to have enough money to buy them all. And this never ends, you are always craving for more.

This is a familiar situation for many women, so you are not alone in this. However, it is not out of the question for some men to feel that they never have enough clothes either.

But there is more to this than meets the eye. We are talking about regular people here with limited financial resources, not about millionaires who have nothing else to do than to shop the whole day long. So what could be behind this hunger for shopping clothes?

Whether you consider yourself to be a shopaholic or not, buying clothes can be some kind of addiction in itself. And it’s not only about filling your wardrobe, but it can sometimes indicate that you are trying to fill some holes in your own soul.

There are several possible reasons why a person always wants to get new clothes:

Always wanting to be in fashion

Always wanting to be in fashion

If you want to always be trendy, don’t hang on tight to that budget of yours because the trends keep changing fast. Also, many brands invent tends of their own so it is really though to keep up with everything from a financial standpoint.

Not to mention that it is pretty time-consuming as well to always look for updates from runways and new collections. It’s best to make peace with the fact that you can’t get the trendiest clothing items all the time and that is perfectly fine.

Also, be selective. Some hits might not be flattering your figure so focus on getting clothes that fit you nicely instead of anything fresh that might come up.

Being bored

Being bored

You might be displeased with certain aspects and feel that the day is not fun enough. So you find a source of entertainment in checking out the latest clothing items not only in your all-time favorite stores, but in as many as you can. You find this enjoyable and a relaxing way for time to pass by.

This can turn out to be a very expensive hobby so you might want to try some other fun activities as well. You might discover that they are more fulfilling and make you feel more alive than buying clothes you barely like and don’t even need.

The desire to be attractive

The desire to be attractive

You might want to be the most attractive and kempt person in the room, no matter where you go. And for that you are willing to sacrifice your budget and to invest as much as you can.

This makes you happy and you don’t really pay attention to what other people are saying. It feels right enough for you and that’s everything that you care about. Just make sure you keep the situation under control in order to avoid going in debt because of this.

Longing to fill emotional holes

Longing to fill emotional holes

Sometimes buying clothes doesn’t have to do with the items themselves. This never-ending hunt for the best clothes might indicate some level of psychological distress that the person is going through.

Sure, not all shopaholics experience this, but it is a frequently encountered situation. It might be the lack of love, frustration or simply one aspect of a person’s life that is incomplete.

Some people just feel empty inside and splurge on clothing purchases to make themselves feel better. It does help for a few hours, days or weeks. But then when you don’t see the novelty in those clothes anymore, the pain might come back so you start the search all over again.

It is important to determine if that happens to you too and to try to fix the issue that is bothering you so much. You might know it better than anyone that you are craving for some closure on a past unpleasant situation than for the newest jeans you find in H&M, so try to deal a bit with that before your budget will become endangered. And if you can’t find a way to successfully do so, do your best to control your urges to purchase so that you will have enough money for everything else.

10 Strange and Unique Dishes from Around the World

What comes to mind when you hear “strange and unique dishes?” Is it the everything bagel sushi? Which if you’ve never heard of, the everything bagel sushi is a delicious Japanese-Jewish fusion composed of sushi rice, cream cheese, layers of smoked salmon covered in everything bagel spice for a truly unique experience.

Or maybe your mind drifts back to Andrew Zimmern, the beloved host of “Bizarre Foods” who calls things like stinky tofu delicious but refuses to eat the durian fruit. Well, if you’re thinking of some of the foods you’ve seen on “Bizarre Foods”, then the dishes on this list will come as no surprise to you.

1. Shirako

Shirako

Where?

Japan

What?

Let’s start the list off with a bang. Shirako is a Japanese dish that looks tasty and for the most part normal but once you find out what it is, it can be a turn off for some. The dish can be served raw, fried, steamed, or as a topping.

The Shirako, or the white part of the dish, is said to have a sweet, custardy taste and a slimy, spongy texture. Some of said the texture is reminiscent of sweetbread (brains) when eaten raw. Often served as an appetizer, Shirako is definitely an uncommon menu item so don’t expect to find it at your local Japanese restaurant.

Is your curiosity piqued yet? Well, Shirako translates to “white children”.  Yes, you read that right. No, we’re not joking. The dish is composed of the sperm sacs of cod, angler, or puffer fish and is commonly served raw though as listed above there are other preparation options available for Shirako. What we really want to know is who came up with this dish?

2. Balut

Balut

Where?

The Philippines

What?

Ok, we have to be honest here: this dish looks exactly what it is. There’s no disguising the fact that you’re eating a fertilized duck egg with a partially developed embryo inside. And yes, we realize that this one is probably pushing the limits of what we’re all willing to try, but it’s interesting enough to make the list.

We’re not going to discuss how the dish is prepared but we will tell you how it’s cooked and served. Balut is boiled and served in the egg with chili, salt, and vinegar. So how are you supposed to eat it? Well, chefs and lovers of the dish say that you first tap a hole in the top of the shell then enjoy the delicious liquid before eating the crunchy rest of the insides; which includes the embryo, feathers, bones, and even some bits of the shell.

On its own taste is supposedly reminiscent of a pungent, strong boiled egg but with crunch. The salt, vinegar, and chili are meant to mellow out the harsh flavor but in our opinion anything that requires that many strong additives isn’t going anywhere near our plates or mouths.

3. Century Egg

Century Egg

Where?

China

What?

Another egg for our list! Okay, so this one is really intriguing and no you aren’t eating an egg that is a century old. However, you are eating an egg that has been sitting out for anywhere from a few weeks to a several months. Sound appetizing yet?

This Chinese delicacy consists of eggs that have been covered in ash, clay, and salt then left in the mixture for a stretch of time before being eaten. By the time the dish is served, the yolk is a dark green and the scent is reminiscent of sulfur. Delicious.

So what does it taste like? They taste like regular boiled eggs but on steroids; the flavors are full and supercharged. The gelatin, or what had previously been the white pat of the egg, supposedly doesn’t taste like anything; all of the flavor is contained in the yolk. To quote someone who has tried the dish, “it’s rather like eating a ripe Camembert, pungent and creamy, with a whiff of ammonia.”

4. Salo

Salo

Where?

Ukraine

What?

We figured it was a good idea to break up the weirdness with something a little more palatable. Salo is a traditional and extremely popular Ukrainian dish. And chances are if you’re a big fan of fat and the smoky, juicy flavor of meat, you’re going to love this one.

Salo is the fat of the meat that is prepared, served, and eaten on its own. Yes you read that right: just the fat. Typically, Salo is made into slabs and smoked before being in a cool cellar for up to a year. This preparation allows the smoky flavor to really penetrate the fat. It also keeps the fat tender but together so it’s not some gooey, slimy mess that falls apart to the touch.

Once it’s ready to be eaten, it’s traditionally cut into thin slices and served with rye bread. The taste is said to be similar to hickory-smoked bacon that’s heavy in fat or the fatty part of a nice juicy steak that’s been grilled to perfection.

In fact, Salo is so popular that Ukrainians hold a festival of lard each year to celebrate it and from the looks/sounds of the dish we can totally understand why!

5. Jellied Moose Nose

jellied moose nose

Where?

Canada (are you really surprised?)

What?

If we’re being completely honest here, the dish doesn’t look any tastier than the name sounds. In fact, both are incredibly off putting but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a treat in Canada. Probably developed by someone who didn’t want to waste any part of the moose, jellied moose nose is a dish that highlights a less than desirable cut of meat: the nose.

More often than not, the meal is prepared by boiling the nose with spices, and onions until the nose hair can be removed easily. Once the hairs are removed, (because finding a hair in your meal is the most off-putting part of this dish), the nose is boiled some more until it is tender. From here, the chefs slice and cover it with a broth that turns the meat into a jelly consistency and it’s ready to be eaten.

Well according to chef Andrew Zimmern who has unsurprisingly tasted this dish, described the meat as “exploding ‘with little’ tastes’,” and likened the flavor to that of corned beef. So in other words, it tastes much better than it looks.

6. Crispy Tarantula

Crispy Tarantula

Where?

Cambodia

What?

Alright, you knew we had to include some kind of insect delicacy on our list. For most Americans insects, particularly spiders, do not equal lunch. In fact, many Americans are arachnophobic so it comes as no surprise that crispy tarantulas aren’t part of most restaurants’ menus.

However, in many other countries around the world such as Cambodia, Vietnam and others, insects are a staple and integral part of meals. They are an abundant resource that always replenishes itself so there’s no fear of running out of food. Insects are also high in protein, cheap to eat/prepare/purchase, and taste like whatever they’re cooked in. Plus, they’re “travel-size” so to speak so they can be eaten on the go.

But what does a crispy tarantula taste like exactly? Well, as mentioned above it depends on the seasoning used. However some have likened the taste of these crunchy treats to that of crab.

7. Airag

Airag

Where?

Mongolia

What?

Bear with us because everything about the next sentence is going to sound really strange and probably disgusting. Airag refers to a glass of fermented horse milk that is a beloved drink in Mongolia. Why? Well, because not only is it super tasty but it’s also alcoholic! Oh and for those of you who are lactose intolerant, this drink also means good news: since the milk is fermented, it won’t bother those with lactose allergies.

Airag is mare’s milk that has been fermented into a sour, fizzy, and slightly alcoholic liquid. So while you won’t get drunk off of it, you might catch a nice buzz, which is probably a must if you’re looking to have another glass of the stuff. Not surprisingly, the fermented milk has a sour, pungent taste but after the initial sip, it becomes very tasty. Some have compared it to sour cream, plain yogurt, and buttermilk.

Traditionally, Mongolians sever Airag chilled in a cup shaped like a bowl. Dregs are then supposed to be poured back into the main container once everyone has been served a glass.

8. Muktuk

Muktuk

Where?

Greenland

What?

Muktuk is one of those dishes that upon first glance looks “normal.” If it was served to you and you had no idea what it was, you’d probably think it was strips of fat or maybe a super white fish. While both of these are in the same ballpark, what Muktuk really is might surprise you.

Muktuk is a traditional Inuit meal and is composed of frozen whale skin and blubber. The fat of the blubber provides much needed calories and obviously fats that Inuits need to get them through the cold months. It can also be eaten when food is scarce and can be stored for a generous amount of time.

The dish has “layers” which you can see in the image above and each apparently has a unique taste. The skin, or darker layers, is slightly crunch and is said to taste like hazelnuts. The fat, or white layers, is chewy and tastes very fish but is tender. There are also protective layers between the skin and fat that is said to be even chewier than the fat and just as fishy. Smell wise there supposedly isn’t one so the struggle won’t be getting it to your mouth but rather swallowing it.

9. Huitlacoche

huitlacoche

Where?

Mexico

What?

The dish pictured above looks pretty weird but tasty nonetheless right? Well, you might not think so after you find out what Huitlacoche translates to. In English, Huitlacoche means “sleeping excrement”. And if you feel like gagging at the name, we completely understand. Despite the off-putting name, the dish is actually pretty tame (and delicious.)

Corn smut is a type of fungus that affects normal corn kernels and turns them into the unusual looking blue-black puffs you see above. For most, this would mean that it’s time to throw the crop out but for Mexicans, it’s a chance to prepare a delicious treat. The dish can be served a number of ways but the most popular is to cook it in a skillet alongside onions, bell peppers and jalapenos then serve it with tortillas like a taco.

The taste is similar to eating mushrooms and other fungi: it’s delicate, soft, and has a very woody, earthy flavor. You can also still taste a hint of the corn alongside the delicious smoky flavor.

10. Hakarl

Hakarl

Where?

Iceland

What?

If you’re a fan of the Travel Channel and/or Food Channel, chances are you’ve probably heard of this dish. Everyone from Andrew Zimmern to the late Anthony Bourdain has experienced this delicacy and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive despite the preparation.

The Greenland shark, which on its own is strange looking, is beheaded and gutted before being placed in a shallow grave covered with sand and stones. After 3 months, the Hakarl is dug up, cut into strips, and dried before being served.

The biggest turn off regarding the meal is easily the smell and first-timers often gag when they come into contact with it. Because of the harsh smell, Hakarl is prepared far away from residential areas and kept in tight storages to prevent the scent from leaking out.

So what does it taste like? Well, that depends on the part of the shark you’re consuming. The soft white flesh from the body of the shark is said to possess a cheese-like texture while the belly meat, which is red in color, is much chewier. Those who have tasted it describe it as fishy, mild, or similar to bleu cheese.

But why try any of these foods?

After reviewing our list, this is probably the question that’s most digging at your mind (even though we were hoping it would be “when can I try these?” but hey we get it). Well the simple answer looks something like “you never know if you’ll like it until you try it”.

However, we think it’s important to sample dishes from around the world. Tasting a culture’s cuisine, even the strange ones, is the best way to learn about it and its people. So while the idea of eating fried tarantula might turn you off at first, it’s a great chance to mingle with locals and learn about their traditions. And chances are you might just discover your new favorite food!

Still not sold? Think about it for bragging/social media rights. You can be one of your few (or only) friends who has eaten moldy maggot cheese and lived to tell about it. Plus, these interesting dishes are definite social media attractants so you can expect a lot of attention on platforms like Instagram with the right tags and a picture of your unique meal.

Don’t forget to let us know which of these dishes you’d actually try and which ones are a hard no!

These short hairstyles were quite popular in the early 1990s, but as you can see nowadays, they are here to stay for a long time. Tell your hairstylist to start at the chin and trim the hair shorter as she approaches the back, but tell her exactly how short she should go at the back.

3. Brown Balayage.

This caramel, tan, and the blonde look is beautiful and enhances the beauty of the short styles. While an expert colourist will try to go above and beyond so that he doesn’t interfere with your hair, short manes are, without a doubt going to be great and in better shape compared to longer locks.

4. Blonde Balayage.

Nowadays, hair colouring is a great thing in hairstyling, and when it comes to colours, nothing holds you back. Using two-toned hair with one shade being fun can give you a stylish look.

5. Short Razor Cut.

Choppy layers are the main features of this short hairstyle. Tell your stylist to utilise a razor comb to give your hair a lot of texture. This small styling device can give you a beautiful look at the home and also when you want to visit a formal place.

6. Very Short Curls.

It is no doubt that curls require a lot of maintenance, and that is why most women don’t like styling it. If this is the case for you, then you should consider very short curls, which is an awesome solution to high maintenance.

So far, one of the most common short hairstyles this year. You should have spotted it with some celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence and Keira knightley. Both younger and older ladies can pull this haircut off.

10. Spiky Pixie.

Pixie cut haircuts are some of the most popular short hairstyles this year. For this hairstyle, the pixie has a lot of layers and some length at the crown. You can use gel or pomade to spike the hair at the top.

This is an excellent style for the ladies who want to change from a pixie to a different new look. To get some edge, ass some hue streaks with temporary shade or coloured styling products.

12. Curly Pompadour.

Curly pompadour is undoubtedly a catchy and stylish hairstyle, which for a long time, has been associated with men. It is a great style if you want to control your unruly curls.

13. Two-Tone Undercut.

Some years ago, it was not common to see ladies rocking more than one colour on their hair. However, things have changed, and this is now a common trend that everyone is embracing. So, if you are unable to decide between the two colours, the best way out is to rock both colours.

14. Bleached Out Pixie.

This unique look is a must-try style this year. You can choose your preferred colour if you visit byrdie.com. This is a daring look, and it is not the kind of looks you can rush into unless you had tried short hair before.

15. Seeing Red Pixie Haircut.

Red is a popular colour among women, and when it comes to short hairstyles, you get an artsy look that commands some respect.

Top Ten Winter Destinations

When it comes to people’s behavior, nothing affects it as much as winter.   People who live in warm climates travel to cold climates to ski, people who live in cold climates travel to warm climates. It never ceases to amaze how much people will go out of their way during the winter.  Wouldn’t it just be easier to move to where you prefer to be all year round?  However, it happens every year.  It’s the human version of migration.  So if you plan on migrating this year, here are the top 10 winter destinations that you should consider visiting!

10.  Texas

Texas big mountain

Coming in at the number 10 spot is the state of Texas.  Texas is the second-largest state in the United States.  Because it covers such a large area, it has a wide range of temperatures, geography, and options.  For the people looking to escape the cold, Texas is a pretty comfortable option.  Temperatures rarely dip below the 32-45 degree mark.

The size of Texas offers a little something for everyone, for beach and ocean lovers, the east region of Texas borders the Gulf of Mexico.  The mountain lovers can find some arid mountains and desert steppes on the western side of Texas.

With major cities spread out from the west to the east, there is an abundant nightlife to be found throughout the state.   Winter is the best time to visit Texas because it’s worst weather feature; the tornadoes don’t appear until the beginning of spring.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  Texas has no skiing or winter sports opportunities.

9.   New Mexico

Big air balloon flying over New Mexico sky

Usually, when New Mexico is on a list, it is for places you don’t want to go.  There is an age-old joke that the only thing New Mexico has going for it is that it isn’t Old Mexico.  However, according to Rockrunner, the outdoor adventure journal, “New Mexico is one of the most underrated states when it comes to recreation, it doesn’t matter what time of year it is.”  Rockrunner may be onto something.  When it comes to sunshine, New Mexico has 167 clear days per year, second only to Arizona, and that place gets so hot, you need oven mitts to drive.

Winter temperatures can be a little on the cool side in New Mexico, with an average winter temperature about 43.   However, the cold temperature brings some of the lightest and fluffiest powder snow to Taos ski resort in the northern part of the state for some of the best skiing in the nation.  New Mexico isn’t one of peoples first skiing destinations, so the prices for lift tickets are still relatively modest compared to Colorado and Utah.

If you migrate to New Mexico slightly before Winter, you will be just in time for the Taos Balloon Festival, which brings out 25-40 hot air balloons every year.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  It is still New Mexico.

8.  Alaska

Water and mountain covered with snow in Alaska

Alaska is still a great mystery.  Alaska is so far removed from the contiguous United States that it almost feels like another country.  It feels even further removed than Hawaii.  However, for the extreme winter, sports fanatic or traveler Alaska is a premier winter destination.  As the biggest state it should have a variety of terrain, but it doesn’t.  It has one terrain, Rugged.  Even though more people travel here during the summer, during the winter, Alaska makes for spectacular backcountry and helicopter skiing or snowboarding.

Exploring glaciers and sea kayaking with the appropriate dry suits is fun all year round.  During the winter you don’t have to fight the crowds, but you do have to deal with the cold.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  There is nothing for heat seekers here.

7. Nevada

Las Vegas famous welcome sign

Nevada has a little of everything, warm weather, cold weather, skiing (via California), gambling, prostitution, and of course, regret.  What could be a better winter destination? Well, six places which put Nevada on this list at number 7.

Nevada can be broken down into two areas, Reno and Las Vegas.  Las Vegas is one of the best-known cities in the United States and is one of the most visited tourist destinations.  There is an abundance of shows, night clubs and entertainment venues along the Las Vegas strip.  With winter temperatures sitting around the 60-degree mark, a winter in Las Vegas means you don’t have to spend any money on winter clothes.

Up north is Reno.  Reno is a smaller version of Las Vegas, which claims the title of the Biggest Little City in the World.  It still features all the gambling of Las Vegas, but just across the border and up I-80 in Lake Tahoe is some of the best skiing.  According to Turnkey Vacation Rentals’ annual ski report, the number 1 ski resort in 2018 was Squaw Valley ski resort, just a hop skip and a jump away from Reno.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except regret and there is a lot of that waiting for you.

6.  Hawaii

Great Sun rise picture in Hawaii.

Hawaii is one of the warm destinations on this list. It has spectacular scenery with a lot of warm things to do. The winter is the rainy season, but with an average winter temperature of 78, a little rain is more like a warm shower for the mainland folk.

Hawaii has some unique activities for the people rich enough to make the flight.  Night dives with manta rays are one of the more amazing adventures that will make for a story sure to steal the attention away from anyone not named Neil Armstrong.

On the Island of Kauai, there is sugar plantation tubing, which features riding a tube on the canals that used to water the old sugar cane fields.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?   It’s expensive.

5.  New York

New York downtown time square

If you are like me and avoid big cities like they are the plague, then you are wondering why New York is on this list.  Well, that is your mistake; there is more to New York than the city.  New York happens to have several ski resorts.  They don’t have the most vertical drop. People on the west coast would consider them the bunny hill, but the prices of lift tickets are modest compared to the west coast resorts, and they are closer to the major metropolitan areas than the ski resorts in places like Colorado, Idaho or Wyoming.

For the lively nightlife crowd who still wants to live a little, New York can’t be beaten.  There is always a party or something to do in NYC and if you are there over the New Year, Times Square is the place to be. Hey the ball drop is something special, why not get in on that.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  New York is an acquired taste.  The people there are unique; some people find them honest and abrasive.  They are! Not everyone is okay with that.

4.  Utah

Man doing ice skating in Utha

Traveling to Utah is unique.  Utah’s license plate says, “the greatest snow on earth.”  That is indisputable.  They hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and are putting in a bid for another Winter Olympics.  It’s the only place you can fly into an international airport, and be skiing at your choice of 7 different ski resorts in less than 45 minutes.

Salt Lake City also has one of the top 20 tourist attractions in the nation, Temple Square. Temple Square is an old Gothic Roman-style temple built by the Mormons, the predominant religion.  Despite strange liquor laws, such as you can only by hard alcohol at state-run stores, Salt Lake has an abundance of night clubs and bars.

Within a 4 hour drive of Salt Lake City, one can be at their choice of 5 national parks or four national monuments.  The southern half of the state is usually a pleasant 20 degrees warmer than the northern half.  It made the number one state for outdoor recreation according to one list.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  Utah is a Theocracy masquerading as a democratic state. It has a low crime rate but funny laws including the nation’s lowest DUI law.  You may come on vacation and leave on probation.  If you can get past the ridiculous alcohol laws, you will still have to deal with the locals trying to convert you to Mormonism.

3.  Colorado

Colorado with Icy mountain

Colorado is best known for its skiing and marijuana laws.   When it comes to skiing, Colorado is the best-known state.  It has the best developed and most technologically advanced ski resorts in the nation.  The resorts have become small towns on their own, and they define winter culture.    Aspen, Vail, Steamboat Springs is what skiing is.

Most of the ski resorts and towns have winter festivals, carnivals, or themed events that happen at various times during the winter.  Breckenridge hosts Ullrfest a tribute to the Norse God of Snow.  Steamboat Springs hosts a torchlight parade, and Glenwood has an adventure park.

To the south are Telluride and Ouray.  Telluride is another ski resort.  Ouray offers a unique winter activity on a mass scale that few others on this list offer, ice climbing.  The town of Ouray installed water pipes on the cliffs overlooking the city. During winter they drip water along the cliff to create a massive sheet of ice that draws ice climbers from all over the world.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  Colorado was the first state to legalize marijuana for every use.  Some parents and people may not find this the ideal location for this reason.

2.  Florida

Florida Pam beach with beautiful water

Florida is a haven for people looking to escape cold weather. It is one of the top retirement states for people looking to have amicable temperatures year-round.  It has more golf courses than any other state, and it has beaches on all three sides.  It has something for everyone except the ski bunny.

For families, Florida is home to Sea World, Busch Gardens, and Disney World.  Dad can golf, while mom shops at any number of designer stores in any one of Florida’s cosmopolitan cities like Orlando, Tampa or Miami. Couples can even find a little romance in Naples Florida, currently listed as one of the best romantic weekend getaways.

All of the major cities in Florida have a vibrant nightlife.  With a complete roster of pro and college sports teams competing year-round, there will never be a dull moment in Florida.

Why isn’t it higher on the list?  There are no winter activities to participate in.

1.  California (Northern)

Great bridge picture in the California

At this point, you probably guessed California would be number 1.  I mean, who else was left?  South Dakota?  The only thing in South Dakota is a bunch of guys carved in rock, and if they weren’t chiseled out of granite, they would have split a long time ago.  To be fair I did have to clarify that I am making a distinction between Northern and Southern California, which are as different as Utah is when compared to rest of the 49 states.

California is so different depending on where you are that people have proposed splitting it up into 3 to 6 different states.  What there is to do in California differs depending on where you are located.  The Northern part is the best winter destination, so that is what will be covered here.

Northern California features cities like San Francisco and Sacramento.  At one point Sacramento was considered the most diverse city in the United States.  San Francisco is one of the most iconic cities in America, and many people would believe the most iconic on the west coast, second only in America behind New York City.  With notable landmarks such as Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge it is the site seers dream.

Two amusement parks are located just a hop skip and a jump from San Francisco, Paramount’s Great America, and Six Flags Over Marine World.  If that isn’t enough to get your adrenaline flowing, Northern California is one of the few places where you can participate in several outdoor recreation activities year-round. The northern part of California provides for rafting during the winter.  Rivers are fed from rainfall, which isn’t much colder than many snowmelt runoff rivers in other parts of the United States in the spring.  East of San Francisco and Sacramento are the Sierra Nevadas and Lake Tahoe.  Most of these resorts are the same ones that provide skiing for Nevada residents.

Why should you avoid California?  Because it has a little bit of negative from everything else on this list except Utah.  That place is just weird.
